Proton Holdings Bhd will open bookings for its new sports utility vehicle from tomorrow. The new SUV, which has been named using a new alphanumeric naming convention as the X70 is available for booking for RM1000. The X70 was unveiled to the media at a special media preview held today at the Proton Styling Studio at the Proton Centre of Excellence. Present at the event was Proton chief executive officer Dr Li Chunrong, deputy chief executive officer Datuk Radzaif Mohamed as well as other senior management members. While there are few changes to the external lines to differentiate the Proton SUV from its Geely counterpart, Proton has incorporated a few uniquely Malaysian design touches to the X70. This includes the grille, which features a shape inspired by a bow. In the middle of the distinctive grille is a large Proton badge, which is framed by three black horizontal bars. KUALA LUMPUR: Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) has tied up with Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd to be an automotive financier in the country as well as a provider for comprehensive financial services solution. Maybank said on Monday that financial services solution covers car manufacturing, distribution, retailing and after sale services for its suppliers, dealers and customers in Malaysia. It added that as a financial solution provider, it would provide access to floor stocking financing, hire purchase, credit card merchants, cash management, Distributor-Supplier Financing packages and MaxiPlan. “Maybank will also provide clients of Honda Malaysia with access to personal and business insurance coverage as well as online banking services,” Maybank said. Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua) is on track to achieve its target of selling 30,000 units of Perodua Axia by year-end, said its chief executive officer, Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh. Aminar said since booking opened on August 15, it has received bookings for 13,500 units, with daily bookings of between 500 and 600 units. "Most of the demand were for the Standard G variants, both automatic and manual transmissions, which accounted for around 50% of the total bookings," he told a media briefing on the launch of the model today. Currently, Aminar said, the booking period for the model was about 1.5 months and the maximum time period expected was under two months.
