Perodua MyVi

The Perodua Myvi is a supermini/ subcompact car launched in 2005 by Malaysian car maker Perodua. The Myvi was the result of Perodua's collaboration with Toyota and Daihatsu. Based on the second generation Daihatsu Sirion/Boon, the MyVi is also similar in design as the Toyota Passo. The 1 liter Myvi which is the Perodua Myvi 1.0SR will be using the EJ-VE 1 liter 3 cylinder DOHC engine, an upgraded version of the EJ-DE 1 liter 3 cylinder DOHC found in the Kenari/Kelisa. http://www.perodua.com.my

Duh, It’s A Car Stereo!

Pretty self-explanatory isn’t it? It’s a stereo system in a car, you say. Whoa, hold your horses, it’s not that simple. Although some people like to put home stereos in their cars and vans (out of dire need for some sounds), sometimes it just doesn’t work. Yeah, maybe before it could’ve worked just fine, all you needed was radio and a cassette player (or 8 tracks, for the inner dinosaur in you) so sure, lug those big box speakers into the back seat and you’ll be blaring down the highway. New Kembara Will Be Launched In Mid-2008

Perodua has announced that a new Kembara will be launched in mid-2008. It is expected that the new Perodua Kembara replacement will be based on the Daihatsu Bego/Toyota Rush. The D-Compact 4X4 gets a newly developed 1.5 DVVT DOHC engine and it comes with full time 4WD with a center differential lock. This engine produces 105hp at 6000rpm and 140Nm of torque at 4400rpm. The car weighs 1230kg. Fuel consumption is rated at 8.6 liters per 100km. The concept model shown uses 18 inch alloy rims with 235/55/R18 tyres.

Daihatsu has released a new variant of the Daihatsu Boon called the Daihatsu Boon X4. It reminds me of the old Daihatsu Charade GTTI. The Daihatsu Boon X4 looks like a great basis for a rally car , if you could somehow get around it’s slightly high center of gravity. Let’s have a look at the specifications. The Daihatsu Boon X4 is powered by a turbocharged intercooled 936cc engine instead of the 1.3 liter intercooler turbo K3-VET Daihatsu YRV engine . This engine is called the KJ-VET, which is a 1.0 liter DOHC 4-cylinder engine making 133hp at 7200rpm and 133Nm of torque at 3600rpm. Very nice and not too over the top power figures for a car that size and weight, and it’s linked to a 5-speed manual transmission . It also comes with full-time 4WD. New Toyota Vios J 1.5

UMW Toyota Sdn Bhd will be launching two new Vios variants - Vios J 1.5 automatic and manual transmissions - on Friday. UMW Toyota said in a statement the two were entry-level variants to the existing Toyota Vios variants launched in October 2007. Managing director Kuah Kock Geng said Toyota Vios has captured 50% market share of the 1.4-1.5-litre passenger car sedan segment in 2007. He said the Vios was popular because of its performance, reliability and economical value. It has averaged sales of 2,500 units per month. UMW Toyota targets to sell 700 units of the Toyota Vios J. Similar to other variants, the Vios Js variant is powered by a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine with either a 4-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual transmission. It also retains safety features such as anti-lock braking systems with electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist. The Toyota Vios J is priced from RM69,800.
